Sentiment Check Template

This post will walk you through a Sentiment Check. This template should be used if you have an idea and want to gather some input from the DAO before drafting an official proposal and submitting it on-chain.

Generally, ideas that have been discussed extensively and show a lot of engagement are more likely to pass when made official. However, this step should not be seen as obligatory for creating an official proposal.

  • Title - Please give your sentiment check a clear title around its objective. This will look as follows: [SC] - XXXXXX.

  • Ordering - Please do not assign a number to your sentiment check. The ordering of it will be assigned by the moderators.

  • Detail - We welcome discussions and debates. If you have suggestions for improvement to the potential proposal or want to express some critique - now is the time to do so. However, we want everyone to consider all viewpoints and provide a deep level of detail regarding the thoughts that went into a proposal and respond in a manner that is in accordance with our forum rules.

  • Ethos - The goal of governance is to create a more inclusive and empowering system for all stakeholders. We encourage sentiment check creators to consider how their ideas help API3 users, partners and DAO members in the long-term.

While a sentiment check does not need to be as thorough as an official proposal it should give enough detail to understand the scope of what is being suggested.

Sentiment Check Format:

  1. Idea - Introduce your potential proposal in all of its detail.

  2. Motivation - Describe the motivation behind the proposal, the problem(s) it solves, the value it adds and potential problems that should be considered. This is your chance to show why this proposal is necessary, and how the changes would benefit API3 if implemented.

For questions, comments or concerns on any of the above, please comment below or join the API3 Discord!
